From the arid Namib Desert to the Atlantic coast, Damaraland and the Erongo Mountains, many of Namibia’s most sought-after birds can be found in accessible areas with excellent roads, comfortable accommodation and reliable infrastructure. This makes Namibia an outstanding destination for birdwatching, whether you are a dedicated birder or simply enjoy combining wildlife, spectacular landscapes and exceptional bird sightings.
Designed specifically for serious birders with limited time, this 3-night/4-day Namibia birding tour focuses on finding as many of the country’s endemic and near-endemic birds as possible. Our key targets include Dune Lark, Gray’s Lark, Benguela Long-billed Lark, Stark’s Lark, Herero Chat, Damara Red-billed Hornbill, Monteiro’s Hornbill, Carp’s Tit, Rüppell’s Parrot, Rosy-faced Lovebird, Rüppell’s Korhaan, Pririt Batis, Rockrunner and Hartlaub’s Spurfowl.
The tour starts in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital, before heading west across the spectacular Namib Desert to the coastal towns of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, where the rich coastal wetlands attract an impressive variety of waterbirds. From the coast, we travel north through the dramatic landscapes of Damaraland before exploring the bird-rich Erongo Mountains, finally returning to Windhoek.
Along the way, there will be opportunities for excellent birding, wildlife viewing and photography, all set against some of Namibia’s most spectacular landscapes.
