Chobe National Park & Victoria Falls

Chobe & Vic Falls Extension safari option

Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls: Two bucket list African destinations that are relatively close to each other, offering the perfect safari experience!

Chobe National Park:

Chobe is situated in the northern part of Botswana, near the borders of Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. It covers an area of approximately 11,700 km2 (4,517 square miles) and is known for its diverse ecosystems, which include floodplains, woodlands, grasslands and the Chobe River, which serves as a critical water source for wildlife in the region. Visitors to the park can expect to see a wide range of animals, including African Elephants (Chobe has one of the largest elephant populations in Africa), Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, African Buffalo, Hippopotamus, various antelope species and over 450 bird species.

Victoria Falls:

The iconic Victoria Falls is located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia in southern Africa. It is considered the largest waterfall in the world based on its combined width (1,700 metres/5,600 feet) and height (108 metres/354 feet). The falls (both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa) are known as “Mosi-oa-Tunya”, which means “The Smoke that Thunders” in the local Tonga language. It reflects the powerful roar and huge mist clouds generated by the falling water of the mighty Zambezi River that forms the falls.

The falls are located within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and the Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe. These lush, protected areas offer opportunities for wildlife viewing, hiking and various adventure activities. The best time to visit Victoria Falls depends on your preferences. The water flow is highest during the rainy season (February to May), creating a more dramatic spectacle. However, the dry season (June to September) provides better visibility of the falls.
